German-born photographer Katarina Stübe (1978) has photographed her way across four continents, capturing images as varied as Berlin today ‘A Critical Perspective Of A Torn City’, an architectural appraisal of the Sydney Opera House, rock stars in Europe, modern-day ‘City Night Lights’ and photo journalism ‘One Helping Touch’ of street kids in South Africa. Her work has been exhibited in Berlin, Hanover, Mallorca. Her insightful series ‘Sails of the Opera’ is currently displayed and for sale at the Sydney Opera House Store.
In 2001 she relocated to Sydney to study architecture and photography, where Jørn Utzon's Sydney Opera House featured in the syllabus; sparking her appreciation of the Danish architect. In March 2006, Katarina met the legendary architect, Jørn Utzon who has shared stories and memories with her. Together with his son Jan Utzon (also an Architect) they are assembling information and unique material of the Sydney Opera House for an ART Book publication released through Prestel Publishing world wide featuring Katarina's images of the edifice.
Katarina is interested in the confluence between culture, geography and communication.
Thus the young photographer helped young, unsigned Australian musicians pursuing their dream of working and living in Europe. She brought Australian musicians to perform at the 2006 Soccer World Cup in Germany, signed international deals with BMG Publishing Germany as well as Warner Publishing Germany the same year. Her bands headlined Popkomm events, were chosen to perform at Canadian Music Week and won "In The City", Manchester. They toured Germany, Scandinavia, Canada, Australia and performed in London and Spain.
Now she is pursuing her own dream taking everything she learned through the years on board, releasing her first own photographic ART book dedicated to the legendary Jørn Utzon.
A true cosmopolite, fluent in English and German, speaking Spanish, she has lived in Sydney and Berlin, and currently resides in Majorca. www.utzonoperahouse.com
